New blog name!

Well, I've decided that if I'm going to use this blog site, then I'd better broaden it out a bit. Before, "Jason's GFM Blog" was just a way for me to post fun pictures and talk about stuff I do on Vanderbilt's campus with InterVarsity's Graduate and Faculty Ministries.

Then Facebook came along. I don't post pictures much there, either, but it's much easier than here.

Then, I just stopped posting. Something needed to change.

So, I figured I'd change the name and the layout a bit in order to recapture my imagination for blogging.

Participatio Vandy is a not-so-vague reference to the theological concept participatio Christi. Participation in Christ (in a very brief [and probably bad] summary) describes our relationship with the man Jesus Christ through His Holy Spirit, the same man who is also God and therefore unites us with the Father through His human nature in its vicarious work. In the incarnation, Jesus participates in our lives. Through faith, we participate in His.

Participatio Vandy references the way I want to be in and around the Vanderbilt community. By participating in its corporate life and in the life of its students, I hope to unite both of those to Christ in a special way through the Holy Spirit. Some might want to call this incarnational ministry. I prefer embodied. (More on that in a later post). Either way, I am who I am now in relationship with and to Vanderbilt, so I thought the change in blog name would broaden my imagination for writing, thinking, and asking you to participate in this journey with me.

More to come!
